GOODYKOONTZ George Beaver, 88, of Fort Myers Beach, FL. passed away on September 16, 2012. Formerly of Lexington, KY. He was born on March 16, 1924 in Filbert, WV, the son of Oakey Bishop Goodykoontz and Leta (n?e Moomaw) Goodykoontz. He was a WW II Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the University of KY with a degree in Commerce in 1949. Mr. Goodykoontz was a former Fayette County Commissioner from 1966-1970, was a Member of Governor John Y. Brown's Task Force on Government Review, a Member of the Advisory Task Force for Growth Planning Lexington, a Former Member of the Board of Directors and a Chapter Chairman of the Red Cross of Lexington, Past President and Treasurer of Travelers Aid Society of Lexington, Past President of the Lexington Optimist Club, Former Member of the Lexington Junior Chamber of Commerce where he served as both a Local and State Director, a Former Member of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Community Development Committee, Former Member of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Industrial Team and a Former Chairman of the Board of Lafayette Christian Church. Mr. Goodykoontz was the Lexington Division Manager of Columbia Gas of KY where he worked from 1952 - 1988. Mr. Goodykoontz is survived by his loving children, Robert Goodykoontz of Ft. Myers Beach, FL and Georgeanne Chandler of Glens Falls, NY; and two cherished grandsons, Christopher Goodykoontz and Kenneth Goodykoontz. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Lottie Marie (n?e Glover) and his brother and sisters Lucinda Ann Bell, Jack McKendree Goodykoontz, Marguerite Moomaw Simpson, and Charlton Oakey Goodykoontz. A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on September 21, 2012 at Lafayette Christian Church in Lexington, KY and a burial with Military Honors at 2:30pm in Clearfiled, KY at the Glover-Stewart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association .
