Although his brothers and sisters chose to move west, Stephen Shockney remained in Maryland. From the time his brother William moved to Ohio and then into Indiana in 1838 until the visit by Stephen D. Shockney and his daughter Henrietta in 1908, Stephen and his children kept in contact with the family in Indiana. Then, in the 1970's, Nelson Shockney of Tennessee became interested in locating Shockneys in the Baltimore, Md., area. Once again, the family ties were established.
