ROBBER-SLAYER WILL GET CHAIR
Larry Calloway, 23, 3734 N. Dorgeniou, was sentenced to death Thursday by Criminal District Court Judge Frank A. Marullo Jr. for killing William Mumaw during an armed robbery of Mumaw's service station April 2.
Marullo told the court Calloway will be "put to death in the manner prescribed by law, that is, by casuing to pass through you body a current of electricity of sufficient intensity to cause death and by the application and continuance of such current through you rbody untilyou are dead, dead, dead, and may God have mercy on your soul"
Calloway was convicted of first degree murder Oct. 25 by a unanimous 12-0 verdict after the jury deliberated for seven hours.
Caloway allegedly entered Mumaw's service station at 1700 N. Galvez and immediately shot Mumaw in the chest. According to court testimony, Mumaw told Calloway "God bless you for that, Brother" before he died on the floor.
Calloway then stole $150 in cash allegedly from Mumaw's wife and fled from the station. He was identified by eyewitnesses from police photographs weeks later.
