George had two children from a previous marriage, Kathleen born in about 1928 and John born in 1934. Since George's first wife was declared incompetent shortly after John's birth, Florence was the only mother he knew. They all resided together in Silver Spring, Maryland beginning in 1938 until they were adults although they visited Hagerstown often
In October, 1952, George was killed in an automobile accident in Tennessee, traveling back from a Day family reunion held in Texas. He was traveling with my grandmother who was injured but survived.
