MOMMA, FREDERICKA
She has been ill for several weeks and passed away 25 April 1920 at the age of 88 years, in this city (Howard, Kansas) at the home of her son, Vol. Her two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Baker and Mrs. Frances Herrington of Kansas City, were with her at the time of her death. She was the widow of Nicholas Momma who passed away 26 years ago.
She was married in Berlin, Germany. She was educated, loveable and cheerful. She was member of the Presbyterian Church of Howard, Kansas. Her maiden name was Merzedus. She was born in Berlin, Germany. Her father was a Greek and her mother was a German. She was married 15 Oct. 1854. Her husband had recently been discharged from the Prussian army and she came to America with her husband, Nicholas Momma, that same year. The ocean voyage was 45 days long.
Nine children were born to this family, five dying (young). One was Mrs. Gertrude Momma) Buel about sixteen years ago. Those living are Mrs. Frances Herrington and Mrs. Minnie Baker of Kansas City; Valentine (Vol) of Howard, Kansas and four grand children. Rev. Newton A. Peck conducted. services. Burial in the Grace Lawn Cemetery, Howard, Kansas.
