LAVERN MUMMA, ARMSTRONG RETIREE
Lavern W. Mumma, 82, of Lancashire Hall, formerly of Talmage, died Friday afternoon at home after a brief illness.
He worked 36 years at Armstrong World Industries, retiring in 1980 as a mixer in the calendar department. He also worked several years at the former Ephrata Market flower stand.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific.
Mumma was a member of Emanuel United Methodist Church of Brownstown and a church trustee.
He also was a former member of West Earl Township Fire Company.
An avid football and baseball fan, he enjoyed woodworking.
Born in Warwick Township, he was the son of the late Wallace and Iva Williams Mumma.
He was married 63 years to Marguerite Weaver Mumma.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Dennis, married to Claudia Bauer Mumma of Ephrata; three daughters, Ruby Fryberger Stoltzfus of Honey Brook, Janice, married to Richard Finefrock of Leola, and Carol, married to Edward Finefrock of New Holland; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Heiney of Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Schaeffer, and five brothers, William, Clinton, Milton, Victor and Lester.
Lavern married Marguerite Weaver , daughter of Irvin R Weaver and Annie Johe Weitzell .
