WILLIAM HARVEY MOOMAW
Born (1866) and raised in Sidney, IA, he was know as "Will".
At some point, he apparently worked as a butcher in Sidney with his father.
Will married Kate Barnes in Sidney (1888). They then moved to Des Moines where their first three children were born (1890, 1894, 1895). Lowell Aden died there as an infant. Beulah was born five years later in Nemaha, IA (1900).
They seem to have settled in Sac City, IA, where Will worked at the Holmberg Garage and later as a night watchman in the cannery. They were certainly in Sac City in August of 1902 when Catherine's sister, Margaret married S.W. Barney Kelso in the Moomaw home. Will's residence was listed as Sac City when his father died in 1908. See photo of the house they were occupying in 1909 when Catherine died.
After Kate's death, son Lewis stayed with his father. But, the two daughters were raised by their maternal grandparents (who apparently were unhappy with Will's parental abilities).
Later, Will married a woman named LIzzie. They lived for awhile in Minnesota. Burlette Leibert belives Will moved back to Sac City around 1932.
Somehow, he ended up in Iowa City (1940). Jo Crilly believes this is where folks were taken who didn't have much money.
