Charles married Anna Gram, their first child was born in 1861, the last of the ten born some time around 1880. The only other information I know about Anna Gram before she was married was that she had a sister named Laura (who married Elmer Swords) and a brother named Cyrus. Charles joined the army near the end of the Civil War, and was stationed somewhere in MD or VA, but got in trouble for going AWOL because he came home when his wife was having a baby.
The 1860 censusd I think it's partially incorrect. The names of the children listed are the names of Charles and Anna's children - I know it lists Anna as John Pierson's wife, but I think that she was actually Charles' wife at the time and they wrote it incorrectly.
