Anoter Pioneer Gone
Mrs Frances Lockwood, a pioneer of Elkhart co, died at the home of her daughter Samuel Stratton, in Elkhart Saturday, July 27th after an illness of two months. She was a native of Ohio and was born 70 years ago.
At the age of thirteen she was brought to this county with her parents Mr and Mrs Molebash, and they settled 2 miles south of Wakarusa.
Mrs Lockwood & her husband Seylon moved to Elkhart about fourteen years ago and Mr Lockwood died seven years ago. Mrs Lockwood moved to Jamestown, six years ago and lived alone, though usually spending the winter with one or another of the children in Elkhart.
When she became ill two months ago, she was brought to the home of Mrs Stratton. The surviving children are Mrs Stratton, Dr Reuben Lockwood of Elkhart, Dr Frank Lockwood of Adamsville, Wesley Lockwood of Union Twp, and Mrs America Kindy of Elkhart. There is a sister Mary Sala of Petoskey.
The funeral services were held last Tuesday, from the house, Rev Geo Lambert afficiating.
