Lucein was the daughter of William S Doty and Eva E Stitt. She was a school teacher in Fremont County, Iowa, and in the 1940 Census was living (lodger) with Reuben Monroe (divorced), his young son Morgan, and Reuben's mother Mary. In or about 1944 Lucein and Reuben married.
