BOARDMAN - Services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., in Boardman, for D. Richard Mumma, 84, who retired from the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad as superintendent of the P&LE?s Subsidiary, Youngstown & Southern Railway. He died on July 4, 2018, at his home.
Mr. Mumma was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Lakewood, a son of Donley H. and Helen L. (Buchwald) Mumma, coming to this area in 1936.
He was a graduate of South High School and Bowling Green State University.
He was a veteran serving on active duty with the U.S. Army Artillery and a Captain in the Ohio National Guard, receiving a Certificate of Recognition from the Secretary of Defense for his service during the period of the Cold War.
Mr. Mumma was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, a life member of the Youngstown Traffic Club, and a member of the American Legion.
He leaves no immediate relatives.
Friends may call on Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
