Halerie Castle Mumma married Daniel James Haapala and they had two boys, Matthew and Richard prior to Daniel leaving and abandoning the family in 1975. In 1997, just prior to his marriage to Dawn Negathon, Matthew legally changed his name to Matthew James Mumma.
