Mumma, John W.
Passed away December 16, 2002. Born December 17, 1920 and raised on a ranch in Dunnigan, CA, John joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Aleutians during WWII. Graduated 1950 with a B.S., Engineering, CA State Polytechnic College, San Luis Obispo, and in 1968 earned a Masters in Systems Engineering at WCU, Los Angeles. He worked as an Engineer at the U.S. Naval Air Missile Test Center, Point Mugu; Lockheed Missiles, Van Nuys; and retired in 1987 from TRW Systems, Redondo Beach. John enjoyed traveling, visiting much of the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and Asia. He became interested in genealogy after visiting his ancestral home at Antietam National Battlefield Site. He also enjoyed Amateur Radio, model trains, car rallies and astronomy as hobbies. A resident of Laguna Woods since February 1996, John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ida Nix; his three daughters (Carolyn, Cindy, Brenda); two granddaughters; two sisters (Mrs. Marion "Elsie" Brown of Maxwell, CA, and Mrs. Clare Rominger of Winters, CA) and many nephews and nieces. Services were held at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National MS Society, 17500 Redhill Ave., #240, Irvine, CA 92614.
