Dean committed sucide on Jan 25th, 1938 as reported in the Ellensburg Capital newspaper on Friday, Jan 28, 1938. He was despondant and was waiting for his divorce to become final from his first wife. He was with his fiancee, Opal Shuey when he put a 32 caliber pistol to his head and pulled the trigger.
