Notes:
Marcia Mumma Hodges
March 18, 1932 - March 11, 2018
Resident of Orinda
Marcia Mumma Hodges was born in Easton, PA on March 18, 1932 and went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2018, after a courageous fight with cancer for over four years.
Marcia received her degree in Piano Performance from Mary Baldwin University in 1953. She was a passionate musician and supporter of the arts in Orinda and the greater Bay Area. As organist at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, she inspired the congregation, choir, and handbell choir from 1972 until she retired in 2013. Marcia was principle accompanist for the Women Sing chorale in Orinda for 30 years, and they have honored her legacy with the Marcia Hodges New Music Fund. When not playing piano, she enjoyed singing alto with the Cantare Con Vivo and The Notables.
Marcia will be greatly missed by her family: loving husband of over 60 years Ken Hodges, son David Hodges (Shellie) of Davis, CA, and daughter Leigh Anne Hodges Clevenger (Larry) of Saratoga Springs, NY. Marcia and Ken have been blessed by their four grandchildren, Ryan Hodges (Dot), Jeff Hodges (Tami), Jill Clevenger and Andy Clevenger (Melissa), and two great-grandchildren. Marcia was predeceased by her parents, Ruth Benedict Mumma and Emory Mumma of Bryn Mawr, PA, and her sister Kathy Atkinson (Jack) of Villanova, PA.
A celebration of life for Marcia Hodges will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 451 Moraga Way, Orinda, CA, on Saturday, March 24 at 11:00 AM, with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, to honor Marcia, donations can be made in her name to St. Marks United Methodist Church, 451 Moraga Way, Orinda, CA, 94563, or to Women Sing, P.O. Box 2014, Orinda, CA, 94563, Attn: Marcia Hodges New Music Fund.
