Obituary from the November 1, 1917 edition of the Gladwin County Record:
James Burley Muma died at his home in Sage township, October 25, 1917, from an attack of bronchitis and asthma. He was born in Ontario, March 17, 1862 and was one of Gladwin's pioneer residents and farmers. Services were held at the Grout Methodist Episcopal church, Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.H. Cornelius, followed by interment in Grout cemetery.
(Was not in the newspaper. James Burley Muma is survived by his wife Emeline Sersaw, who he married on September 17, 1906 in Harrison, Clare Co., MI. Also his children, Thomas, Donald, Hilda, Martha, and Geneva Grace.)
After Burley died, Emmeline married Burley's younger brother, George.
