Jack Kenard Holloway Sr. Jack Kenard Holloway Sr., 69, of Port Republic, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at his home. Jack was born on February 14, 1943, a son of the late Howard Jackson and Cleo Katherine (Alexander) Holloway. Jack served with honors in the United States Army, 101st and 82nd Airborne divisions in the countries of Germany, South Asia, and the Dominican Republic Crisis. He was a retired Staff Sergeant with the United States Army National Guard. He also retired from GE/Genicom in Waynesboro, Virginia. He was Quarter Master and founding member of the Grottoes VFW Post 4698, which was formed in 1969. Jack attended Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Lynnwood.
On January 6, 1964, Jack was united in marriage to Patricia (Shifflett) Holloway, who survives. In addition to his wife Pat, Jack is survived by a daughter, Darla Sue Moomaw and husband, Steve, of Woodstock; a son, Jack Holloway Jr. of Port Republic; two grandchildren, Sarah Catherine Moomaw and Jack "Brody" Alexander Holloway. Jack is also survived by two brothers, Carson Holloway and wife, Kelly, of Grottoes, and Gary Howard Holloway of Staunton; a sister, Linda Kelley and husband, John, of Grottoes; and numerous nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews. A funeral service will be held at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Port Republic, 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012, with the Reverend Stuart Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grottoes Fire Department, PO Box 67, Grottoes, VA 24441.
