ELSIE LEE (SANDERS) KEMPINGER Elsie Lee (Sanders) Kempinger, 88, Kansas City, Mo., passed into God's hands December 14, 2014. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to laugh, take road trips across the country, enjoy long visits over coffee, and listen to her many favorite songs. She would do anything for her family, giving her time, help, hugs, whatever was needed. She was affectionately known as "Mow" to her grand-girls, and was a playmate, a friend, and an encouragement to them every day. To know her was to love her, and she will be deeply missed. Elsie Lee Sanders was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Kansas City to Claude D. Sanders and Gail Cadman Sanders. She had two sisters and one brother. She married Edward J. Kempinger in 1947. They made their home in Kansas City, near her family, and had six children. She is survived by sister, Dorothy (Marvin) Andrews, daughters, Sheryl Mielcarek and Lea (Paul) Mumma; sons, Glen, Gary, James, and Steven Kempinger; granddaughters, Ginny (Lee) Walkington, Stefanie Kempinger, and Celie Mumma; and one great-granddaughter, Ariana Hardy. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 59 years, sister, Jo Ann Harmon and brother, Elmer D. Sanders. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Floral Hills in Raytown, Mo. Funeral service will be at 12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Floral Hills. Burial to follow.
