Michael Ray Leitzell, 63, of Swatara Twp., passed away Monday, March 15, 2010, in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born July 22, 1946, in Rockville, Dauphin County. He was the son of the late Damascus M. and Mary (Mumma) Leitzell; and preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Dennis Leitzell.
He retired from Capital Area Transit. He served 28 years of service with the Army National Guard, 28th Infantry Division, and was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Michael will be remembered for his humor, love for golf and hunting.
He was a member of the Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren.
Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Kathryn E. (Oellig) Leitzell; son, Adam R. Leitzell (Lisa), of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Heather Sweigart (Scott), of Harrisburg and Rebekah M. Leitzell, of Virginia Beach, VA.; four grandchildren, Dustin, Madison, Camryn and Olivia; three brothers, Roger Leitzell, and Ken Leitzell, both of Harrisburg, and David Leitzell, of Mechanicsburg; two sisters, Nancy Herrman, of Dauphin, and Shirley Neidig, of Speeceville.
A visitation will be held at 11:30 am followed by the Memorial Service at 12:30 pm Friday, March 19, 2010, in Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3211 N. Front St., Suite 100, Harrisburg, 17110.
