Jasper (Jack) Strickland Moomaw, Jr., 66, formerly of Roanoke, passed away August 15, 2006 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Grundy, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper S. and Lucille Tatum Moomaw and a sister, Barbara Moomaw Stewart. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served five years during the Vietnam Conflict, and was a graduate of the Army Language School in Monterey, Calif. and a graduate of V.P.I., class of 1963. Surviving is a sister, Anita Moomaw Thompson; niece, Melissa Strohl; nephew, Pete Thompson, all of Plano, Texas; also niece, Jane Koch of Lexington, N.C. and nephew, John W. Stewart of Trinity, N.C. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 11 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery with Mr. John Stewart officiating. Arrangements by Wood Funeral Home in Floyd, 745-4100.
