Iris M. Hull, 88, formerly of Pierre, died May 29, 2007, in Surprise, Ariz., where she had been living with her daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Gordon Edwards.
Visitation will be Monday, June 4, 2007, at Feigum-VanLith Funeral Home, Pierre. Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at First United Methodist Church, Pierre. Interment will follow at Onida Cemetery, Onida. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, Pierre.
Iris Telford was born November 25, 1918, the oldest of eight, to Pearl and Merna (Emeigh) Telford in Onida, S.D. As a young girl, Iris would get a ride to attend school with her uncles, where she boarded, with Uncle Hershel and Leota Telford. Her growing up years were spent on the farm at Fielder Bottom. She graduated from Onida High School in 1936.
She married Elwin R. Hull on Dec. 26, 1936. They had three children, Charles Wayne, Phyllis Maureen and Marcia Faye.
Iris was a homemaker and later worked as a seamstress and in retail sales. She was preceded in death by Wayne and Elwin.
Iris was blessed in marriage to Edward "Ned" Hull uniting his four children, Donna, Lee, Roberta and Carol with Maureen and Marcy. The grandchildren that followed only knew Iris and Ned as their grandparents. They spent seven years together before Ned died in 1985.
Iris will always be remembered as our Angel on Earth. She was a very loving Christian lady who tried to live by examples to her children, grandchildren and her extended family members.
Iris will also be remembered for her cooking, especially her cookies and banana bread; always willing to teach the grandkids how to cook. She loved playing cards, games, crafts, reading to the kids and spending as much time as she could with her family. She always sent cards to family and friends for birthdays, anniversaries, get well, etc. She will be truly missed but her spirit will live through all those she touched.
Iris is survived by Maureen and Gordon Edwards, Marcy Bourk and John Carter, Donna and John Bennett, Lee and Bev Hull, Roberta and John Heinrich, and Carol and Ken Olson. Iris had 13 grandchildren: Lynette and Rod Baston, Michelle and John Standridge, Cindy and Ron Bowden, Pamela and Pat Bollweg, Nicole and Arlen Prince, Bobbie Bourk, Erin and Jeff Horstmeyer, Roberta Bennett, Kara and Dave Lindstrom, Erik Hull, David and Stacey Heinrich, Rachael Heinrich, Kristin Olson and Kelly Olson. Iris had 22 Great Grandchildren: Kyle and Megan Johnson, Jennifer Bland, Adam Johnson and Desirae Schutte, David Bland and Amber Chase, Philip Baston, Reanna Sanchez, John Standridge, Ryan and Patrick Bowden, Cody, Connor, and Brooklyn Bollwed, Anastasia, Jodi, Brandi, Dalton and Lathan Prince, Jonathon Heinrich, Sam Horstmeye, Paige Heinrich, Delaney Lindstrom, and Hailey Heinrich. She is also survived by three Great Great Grandchildren: Sophia Sanchez, Triston Edwards and Claira Johnson.
Iris is survived by her sister, Arlene and Ferd Albertus, brothers Gene and Jean Telford, Merle and Melda Telford, sisters-in-law Nadine Telford and Ida Hull, and brother-in-law Calvin "Tim" Hull.
To the nieces, nephews, cousin, and other family members not listed above, Iris has always had you in her heart and prayers.
Iris was preceded in death by her son Wayne, husbands Elwin and Ned, her parents, brothers Kenneth Wayne Telford, Thomas T. Telford, sisters Evelyn Telford, Phyllis A. Hunsley, Ella Marie Jones and grandson Edward Heinrich.
