PIQUA ? Dorothy M. Mumaw, age 85, of Piqua, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 7, 2018, in her residence.
She was born in Logan County, Ohio, on Jan. 31, 1933, to the late Leroy and Pearl (Shores) Price. On Sept. 24, 1949, in Covington, Kentucky, she married Edward F. Mumaw. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2015.
Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Huelskamp, Piqua, Diane Grunkemeyer, Piqua, and Linda (Bibb Bruton) Spain, Salisbury, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Bill Jones, Houston, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Amy Jo (Lewis) Kurzawa, John (JJ) (Shaundra) Grunkemeyer, Andrew Huelskamp, Angela (Carlos Llamas) Spain, Doug (Karen) Spain, Matthew (Ashley) Spain, Jackie (Sam) Grise, Jerry (Jenni) Huelskamp and Jenni (Matt) Spangler; 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Abigail Franks; two sons-in-law, Jim Huelskamp and John Grunkemeyer; four brothers, Charles Price, Robert Price, Darrill Price and Donald Price; four sisters, Marge Cotterman, Vonnie Morris, Ruth Moses and Helen Price.
Dorothy attended Sidney High School, Sidney, Ohio. She was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Piqua, where she donated her time and energy in whatever capacity needed. Dorothy was a member of the St. Clare Ladies Society. She worked at PMI in Troy for 10 years. After retiring, she enjoyed working for Ulbrich's IGA in Piqua for several years.
Dorothy was an avid card player and loved to crochet and make many items for other people. Dorothy was loved and well-respected by everyone she came in contact with and will be greatly missed by all. She will be well-remembered for her generous personality and kindness of heart with those she came in contact with.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Piqua, Ohio, with the Rev Thomas Bolte as celebrant. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
