Louise "Dot" Drusilla (Hamilton) Moomaw, passed away at her home and joined many family and friends in Heaven on June 6, 2021.
The funeral service will be held Friday, June 11, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Service in Edinburg. Reverends Jack Tucker and Olin Bailey will officiate. Burial will follow in Hudson Crossroads Cemetery.
She was born on January 15, 1931, in Bunker Hill, WV to the late Perry and Effie Mumaw Hamilton. Also predeceased, was her husband, Carroll Moomaw; companion, Dural Bair; daughters, Rose Moomaw and Joan Moomaw; granddaughter, Scarlett Seay; sisters, Frances (Hank) Moomaw Will (Alvin) (Harry) and Estella "Stel" Taylor (Harry) (Glen); brothers, Aldine Hamilton and James Hamilton.
Surviving are daughters, Crena Ryman and husband Otie; Mona Seay and husband, Kenny; granddaughters, Serenity Mowery and husband, Jason and Moriah Seay; grandsons, Nathan Ryman and girlfriend, Marisa Moomaw and Kenneth Seay III; great-grandson, Ashton Mowery; sister, Ruby (Bea) Rinker (Luther); stepdaughter, Carol Ann; many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and her very loved and infamous kitty cat, Ihop.
Dot was a caregiver, who took care of her two handicapped daughters, Rose and Joan, their entire life, her husband, Carroll for 20 years, and her mother Effie for several years. After the deaths of those loved ones, she was a caregiver for many people in the community until her health declined to the point of being unable to do so.
She was a strong woman that took on what many would call burdens without complaint. She was the absolute best mother God could have ever created. She was an "angel on earth."
In addition to caring for people, she had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. Her favorite past time was "digging in the dirt." She had many experiences in her 90 years and was a great storyteller, with a dry wit sense of humor that entertained and made everyone laugh. She was well loved by young and old alike and when it came to fashion, "leopard print" was her style.
Special thanks to caregivers, Margaret and Sandra; nurse, Robin; and physical therapist, Becky. These ladies went above and beyond their jobs to assist Dot and her family.
Pallbearers will be Otie Ryman, Ken Seay Jr., Kenneth Seay III, Nathan Ryman, Jason Mowery, Steven Delesky.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Ashton Mowery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
