William J. Trimbach, 94, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.
He was born November 11, 1917, in Dayton, OH to Edward and Elizabeth (Rediess) Trimbach.
Bill was raised on a farm but went to work when he was 18 years old at DELCO in Dayton, OH, as a toolmaker. He attended and received his degree in tool making from Parks College.
Bill married Janet Mumma on November 24, 1938, in Dayton.
While working for DELCO, Bill started butchering hogs at their farm home and would sell the meat door-to-door. Eventually he built a meat packing business.
They later rented a store to sell the meat and later bought a bigger store, named Trimbach's Market in 1947, and bought a bigger plant, Trimbach's Packing Plant in 1955.
In 1956, Bill and Janet started a restaurant, Trimbach's Drive Inn Restaurant, which Janet devoted her full time to operating. Later they bought a larger farm to raise the cattle, hogs, and turkeys for all of their businesses to sell.
Eventually, as their family got older, Bill would come to Colorado to buy cattle at his uncle Ted Rediess' sale barn, The Brush Livestock Company. The cattle were shipped back to Ohio for their packing business.
In 1965, the Trimbach's decided to move to Colorado where his mother's parents, the Rediess family had homesteaded near Gary. After moving to Colorado, Bill attended most of the livestock auctions in the area, buying for Sigman Meat Company, Boxer Feedlot, and many other feedlot and slaughter houses.
Bill loved Colorado for all the great hunting that was available. His favorite things in life were to be with livestock and hunting. He also loved trees and planted as many as possible wherever he lived.
Survivors include six grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Cecilia Clapp of Dayton, OH.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, one grandson and 11 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 22, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Inurnment will be in the Prairie View Cemetery at Stoneham at 2 p.m.
