Dorothy had an interesting life while growing up. Her father was a cattle buyer and as a result, the family continually move every few years. While this sometimes proved a hardship with her education, she eventually graduated from high school in Roberts, Montana with high marks. There were only 8 in her high school graduation class and it was listed as the "Third Annual Commencement - Troy High School - May 18, 1922".
After graduation, she eventually moved to Riverside, California where she met her first husband, Bill. She assumed the role of homemaker and successfully raised three boys who all graduated from college and led productive lives. Upon Bill's retirement as a coach, they both took up the sport of lawn bowling at which they both became very successful. In 1970, Dorothy helped Organize the American Women's Lawn Bowls Assocation and was it's President from 1970-71 as well as in 1983. She bowled as a representative on the U.S. Women's Lawn Bowls team on numerous occasions, traveling to Australia, New Zealand, England, and Canada. She married twice after Bill died and continued to have success lawn bowling with her new husbands. Dorothy continues to lawn bowl at age 92. In 1995, she was awarded a life membership in the American Women's Lawn Bowls Association for her past contributions to that organization.

DOROTHY MUMMA TODD
Dorothy Mumma Todd (a.k.a., "Dot"), America's crusader for woman's rights to lawn bowl equally with the men. When her husband, Bill Mumma, now deceased, persuaded Dot to lawn bowl, she fell in love with the game, but complained of the many problems of unfairness and prejudice towards women that existed in the sport of Lawn Bowling. Women lawn bowlers were prohibited to bowl with, or against the men in team competition. When the men had finished their morning games the women were allowed to play their games in the heat of the summer.
Dot was a tenacious and feisty competitor, determined to establish woman's rights equal to that of the men's association. She worked diligently towards establishing the National Woman's Lawn Bowling Association which she founded and established in 1970, becoming the first president of the organization. She was also president in 1983.
Dot was awarded a life time membership in 1995 of the American Woman's Lawn Bowling Association for her contribution to the organization, including being the focal point in the formation She traveled all over the USA and the world as a player, captain and a delegate. She competed in four world tournaments, traveling to New Zealand, England and twice to Australia.
She married Bill Todd in 1985, who also was an avid bowler. Together they and entered many tournaments. They organized and sponsored the Mumma Todd Mixed Pairs Tournament in 1986 which was held in Riverside every year, where the women skipped. The Mumma tournament continues on, now being sponsored by her son, Larry and daughter-in-law Jo.
She was a terrific bowler and won many tournaments, leaving behind numerous trophies, awards and pins from all over the world.
Sadly she passed away of cancer on February 17, 1996 at the "young" age of 92.
