VERNA OTTENSMEIER
Mrs. Verna Ottensmeier, 55, died Saturday at the Halstead hospital.
She was born Jan. 28, 1930, south of Abilene, the daughter of Pau l and Bertha Bear. She was a graduate of Chapman High School with th e class of 1947 and attended Kansas University.
On August 1, 1948, she was married to Harold Ottensmeier. The earl y years of their married life were spent farming near Oskloosa, movin g to Topeka in 1953. In 1957, they moved to Bellflower, Calif. wher e they made their home until returning to Abilene in 1973. She had b een employed by Green Ford, Duckwall-Alco, Holm Chevrolet, and Ranol d Rice.
She was well known for the many cakes she decorated for weddings, a nniversaries and other special occasions. She was a member of the St . Johns Lutheran Church at Lyons Creek. She was preceded in death b y her parents and one sister.
She is survivied by her husband Harold, of the home; one son, Pau l and daughter-in-law Terry, of Abilene; one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Je an) Raiter, Seward, Neb,; three brothers, Phill Bear, McClouth, Harmo n Bear, Terra Bella, Calif., Dale Bear, Baldwinsville, N.Y; and two g randchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the St. John s Lutheran Church at Lyons Creek, the Rev. Tony Troup officiating. I nternment will be in the St. Johns Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Danner Funeral Home, Monda y evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions in her memory be given t o the St. Johns Lutheran Church.
