Mary B. Gerberich, 92, of Elizabethtown, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 27, 2010 after a long battle with cancer.
Born on September 23, 1917 in Hanoverdale, Dauphin County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel D. and Jennie (Baker) Theal.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George H. Gerberich in 2006.
She was a member of Conewago Church of the Brethren in Hershey. Mary worked for seven years at Hershey Chocolate and for a short time at the former Klein Chocolate Factory in Elizabethtown. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. Quilting and crocheting were great enjoyments for her, making hundreds of hats for newborn babies and cancer patients. She was a very caring wife, mother and grandmother. Mary had patience and kindness, and was especially fond of spending time with her family. She asked little of anyone but gave so much of herself in return.
Mary was preceded in death by three brothers: David, Harry and John Theal and a sister, Martha Keyton Hostetter.
Surviving are three children: Irvin, husband of Derinda Gerberich; Shirley, wife of Gary Meyerhoffer; and Nancy, wife of Joel Koser, all of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren: Michael Gerberich, Stephen Gerberich, Benjamin Koser, Heidi Meyerhoffer, Lori Witmer and Nicole Wenger; six great grandchildren: Haley, Hannah, Rachel, Rebecca and Ryan Gerberich and Jace Witmer; and a sister, Sarah Brandt.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Conewago Church of the Brethren, 7035 Schoolhouse Road, Hershey, PA 17033 at 4:30 pm with Pastor Scott Cooper officiating. Friends may call on Thursday at the church from 3:00 until the time of service. Interment will take place in Hanoverdale Cemetery.
