George H. Gerberich
George H. Gerberich, 90 of Elizabethtown, died on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Hershey Medical Center. Born April 8, 1916 near Hershey, he was the son of the late Daniel A. and Lucy Hetrick Gerberich. He was the husband of Mary B. Theal Gerberich. They were married 63 years in October 2005.
A farmer all his life, George retired in 1981 from Milton Hershey School Farms after 30 years. Prior to that, he worked at Dauphin County Home Farms as foreman of the dairy operation for 7 years. Additionally, he worked for Koser Home Supplies and for a short time at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI.
George loved the outdoors, especially hunting, trapping and fishing. He liked gardening and planted a large garden every year for his family.
He was a member of Conewago Church of the Brethren in Hershey.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Irvin J., married to Dorinda Schwartz Gerberich, Elizabethtown; two daughters, Shirley A., married to Gary D. Meyerhoffer and Nancy L., married to Joel B. Koser, both of Elizabethtown, six grandchildren, Michael and Stephen Gerberich, Heidi Meyerhoffer, Lori Meyerhoffer Witmer, Benjamin and Nicole Koser and three great grandchildren, Haley, Hannah and Rachel Gerberich, two sisters, Beulah Shaffer and Katherine DeLong and a brother, Ray Gerberich all of Hershey.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mahlon and Daniel and two sisters, Beatrice Boyer and Betty Hetrick.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at the Conewago Church of the Brethren, 7035 Schoolhouse Road, Hershey at 11:00 AM, with Rev. William Haldeman officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 and on Wednesday from 10:00 until the time of service. Interment will take place in Hanoverdale Cemetery in Hummelstown.
