------------------------------------------
Grace I. (Mumma) Douglass, 73, a born-again believer (that Jesus Christ died for her sins, conquered earthly death with His resurrection, and through her own faithful confession of sins, provided eternal salvation), went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 7, 2005. She entered the presence of the Lord with true grace, indescribable peace, and spirit-filled hope. While surrounded by family and loved ones at the York Hospital, God gently welcomed her home.
Born May 31, 1932, in York, Grace was the eldest child of the late Lewis and Clotein Mumma (Luckman). Grace graduated from Hampton High School (Hampton, Va.) in 1950, and was employed by Wiest Department Store in York as a young woman. She earned a certificate of biblical training from the York Bible Institute. Grace faithfully served the Lord as an active member of the Church of the Open Door of Shiloh, where she joyfully taught a toddler Sunday school class for 42 years. She was a loving stay-at-home mother, and gracious host to countless family gatherings, of which she generously supplied an abundant smorgasbord.
Grace is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles H. Douglass of Spring Grove; three children, a daughter, Brenda L. and husband, Bryan J. Motter of Spring Grove, daughter, Diane M. and husband, Donald A. Harbaugh of Spring Grove, and a son, Chad J. and wife, Tracey S. Douglass of Manchester; a brother, Francis and wife, Joan Mumma of York; a sister, Karen S. and husband, Craig Altland of Surprise, AZ; two nephews, Francis Mumma, Jr., and Jared Mumma; three grandsons, Dony J. and wife, Jill Harbaugh, Casey B. Harbaugh, and Timothy J. Harbaugh; two granddaughters, Paige N. Douglass and Logan E. Douglass; and one great-granddaughter, Claire E. Harbaugh. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lewis Mumma, Jr.; and a son, Charles H. Douglass, Jr. (deceased in 1961).
