The Cumberland (Maryland) News, Monday, May 10, 1965:
OAKLAND --- Walter Herman Moomaw, 69, of RD 2, Oakland, died Saturday in Baker VA Center where he had been a patient since April 9. He had been in ill health for six months.
A native of Schell, W. Va., he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth J. (Roderick) Moomaw. Mr. Moomaw was a carpenter before retiring.
He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of Mountain Lake Camp 44, WO World.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Gladys (Riley) Moomaw; two daughters, Mrs. Harland Paugh, Loch, Lynn, Md., and Mrs. Dale Fike, Deep Creek Lake; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Gnegy, Mountain Lake Park; Mrs. Earl Wonderly, Pleasant Valley, and Mrs. Bernice Shaffer, Oakland, and five grandchildren.
The body is at the Leighton Durst Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Loch Lynn EUB Church by Rev. George Simpson and Rev. Oscar W. Hull. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Elwood Beckman, Elmer Liller, Clyde Liller, Robert Shank, Russell Stover Jr. and Roy Gnegy.
