APPENDICITIS KILLS FORMER CANTONIAN IN CUBAN HOSPITAL
Message Tells of Death of Edward D. Mumaw --- Brother Had Left For His Bedside
A message was received Sunday night at the home of Aaron Mumaw, West Tuscarawas street, announcing the death of Edward D. Mumaw at his home in Caibarien, Cuba. Death resulted after a short attack of appendicitis. A letter from his wife last week told of his confinement in an army hospital on the island and in response John Mumaw left last Friday for his bedside. It was hoped by Mrs. Mumaw that he would recover sufficiently to come to this country to be operated upon. Death occurred Saturday night.
Mr. Mumaw left with his family last January to accept a position with the American Development company and to manage an orange grove which he had purchased. He made his home in this city until six years ago, leaving at the time for Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mr. Mumaw was at one time a member of a local company of the Ohio National Guard.
Mr. Mumaw was 26 (sic) years of age and leaves a wife and daughter Margaret, two years old. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Mumaw, of 2002 West Tuscarawas street, and four brothers and two sisters, survive him. They are, John, Welker, Ralph and Lloyd Mumaw, all of this city, and Mrs. William Best, of Dayton, and Mrs. H. H. Bowman, of Canton. The body will be brought to this city for interment in Westlawn cemetery.
