JOHN MUMAW
John S. Mumaw, of R.D.1, Drums, died on Thursday in the veterans Administration Medical Center, Plains Township, following an illness.
Born in Hazleton, he was a son of Elizabeth (Wersinger) Mumaw, Hazleton, and the late Samuel Mumaw.
He was a graduate of Hazleton High School, and a retired veteran of the U.S.Navy, having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam.
He previously resided in Spring Valley, Calif., serving his entire career in the Pacific Theater of Operations, and was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, headquartered in Washington, D.C.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, the former Irene Strenk, Drums; two sons, John M. and Charles P., both of San Diego; two daughters, Jane White, Tacoma, Wash., and Nancy Coyer, Tulsa, Okla.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 64 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre.
