[The Hagerstown Mail, Friday, August 10, 1900]
Mrs. Catherine E. Albert, died at 5:40 o'clock this morning at her home, 227 S. Potomac st., of paralysis, aged 70 years. The news of her death was received with regret by a large circle of friends and acquaintances in this city. Mrs. Albert suffered two strokes of paralysis, the first one about six weeks ago from which she had partly recovered. The second stroke came on August 1 and since then she had been rapidly declining. She was unconscious for several days. Her death was calm and peaceful. Deceased was a member of St. John's Lutheran church for a number of years, a kind and devoted mother and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. She was a Miss Mumma before marriage and the widow of the late Wm. H. Albert, who was a soldier in Company I, Seventh Maryland Regiment, who died in 1863, and reared a large family of children numbering among them some of the best known citizens of Hagerstown. The survivors are the following children: County Commissioner Abram E. Albert, Wm. H., and James B., all of this city; Lida, Florence and Ella, at home. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock; services at the house by Rev. Dr. S. W. Owens; interment in Rose Hill cemetery.
