Arthur Edwin Muma
Arthur Edwin Muma passed away at Weyburn on Saturday, August 14, 1999 at the age of 88 years. He was born in Marquis, SK and attended school in Marquis and Keeler. In 1937 he married Thelma Gallagher. Art went to teachers college in Moose Jaw and taught school for several years in different places including Primate, Drinkwater and Wood Mountain. He began working as a rural municipal administrator in Flaxcombe in the early 1940's and took classes to obtain the necessary certificates of qualification, eventually obtaining the advanced Superior "A" Certificate. He continued to do this type of work in various places including Morse, Spring Valley and Estevan until his retirement in 1977. During his time in Estevan he was on the board of the St. Paul's United Church. He and Thelma enjoyed entertaining, playing bridge and visiting with friends and family until they were forced by ill health to move to the Crocus Plains Villa in Weyburn. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Muma, two sisters, Mabel and Marion and one brother, John. Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Thelma of Weyburn, two sons: Lloyd (Janie) Muma of Weyburn and James (Julie) Muma of Calgary; five grandchildren: Dana Muma (Peter Steckhan), Scott (Tina) Muma, Kelsey Muma, Jodie Muma and Jason Muma; one great granddaughter, Jenna Muma, three sisters: Minnie Wilson of Maple Creek; Sarah Muma of Ottawa and Edna (Don) Holyoke of Norman, OK; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Monday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, with Marilyn Anderson Corkum officiating minister. Interment followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. All those in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were Scott Muma, Kelsey Muma, Peter Steckhan, Lou Stang, Larry Watson and Ron Watson. Donations may be made in his memory to the Grace United Church Building Fund. Arrangements were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn.
