He was a graduate of Harrisburg Schools and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Harrisburg, 1927. He served as a state policeman for 6 years, some of it on horseback. He then worked as a Railroad Detective in Lehigh Valley Railroad as a special officer for 15 years. He then came to Elizabethtown, PA in 1950 and served as Chief of Police in Elizabethtown for 20 years before retiring. He served and was elected as Borough Councilman.
He was a member of many, many Masonic groups, a volunteer Elizabethtown Ambulance driver, and a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown.
In 1930, he is listed as age 24 and living in the state police barracks in West Reading, Berks Co., PA
