BURNT CABINS -- James L. "Jim" Mumma, 66, of Burnt Cabins, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, in Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born March 19, 1936, in Burnt Cabins, he was a son of the late Ira W. and Dorothy Fix Mumma. He was a Protestant. For about 40 years, he was a gas station attendant, having worked about 17 years at the family station in Fort Littleton and 23 years at an Exxon station along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. After retiring, he worked about four years for JLG Industries, McConnellsburg. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved the outdoors. He was a member of Dutchman's Hunting Club and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. His wife, Marilyn Thomas Mumma, died July 3, 1988. Surviving are two daughters, Denise (Mrs. Richard A.) Locke of Shade Gap and Renne L. Wilson of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard "Dick" of Burnt Cabins; a sister, Betty Knowles of Nokesville, Va.; and a friend, Shirley Ramsey of Hustontown. Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg, with the Rev. Wilson Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Burnt Cabins Cemetery. Viewing will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., in the funeral home. The family also will receive friends one hour before the service Wednesday, but there will be no viewing."
