Lewis D. Wible married, Mary Snyder. She grew up on a farm outside Knobsville, PA. Lewis and Mary took care of Lewis's mother Lottie after his father Samuel died. Lewis's inheritance was his family homestead and farm as his father's last wishes were for Lewis to take care of his mother in return. John and Orsian along with their families lived on adjoining properties and each having farms also. The land was given to them by their father, Soon Lottie passed away.
Lewis and Mary had several babies while living on the farm and one child being Glenn.
Lewis D.Wible leased shares of property on his brother Orsian's farmland. Lewis was a farmer with horses, cows, pigs and chickens owning 200 acres. He worked at farming during the week then on the weekends he would walk across the mountain to minister in a nearby town. Around the year of 1919, Lewis was offered to minister at a church in Blaine, Pa.. The parsonage gave his family a place to live. Lewis bought his first car a model T Ford, for $600.00. Several years later Lewis and his family moved to Thompson town, as they relocated with the church ministry. Mary started teaching Sunday school.
Lewis Wible gave his Sunday sermon. That same day he had a fatal stroke while he was inside his car located in front of his home owned by the parsonage. He died at the age of 55. Mary and the youngest children moved in with friends, the oldest married boys helped their mother by giving part of their pay. Mary's younger sons, Don and Ron, started working at Fairview Bakery, sometimes bringing home baked goods. Eventually, Mary and her children bought a house in Fairview section of Altoona. All the children would help support their mother's needs. Mary sold dresses for Larkin Goods Company in Juniata, Altoona, PA. She enjoyed making quilts and knitted also. She taught Sunday school for over 50 years. Mary lived by herself after all her children married and moved from home keeping the large house as she wanted her family to stay with her when they visited. Her children looked after her and her needs until she died in the house in Fairview. She died in her sleep at the age of 88. Source:
