Alpha was the son of Edward and Laura Barger Mumaw. He was survived by his wife, the former Alice Coulter, children Charles, Norman and Luther Mumaw and Anna Bonam, 16 grandkids and 4 great-grandkids.
He served in the Navy during World War II and belonged to the Steadman-Keenan American Legion Post in Brunswick. He also belonged to Lodge No. 191 AF & AM Masons in Brunswick.
