Clarence Samuel Muma age 75 of Valley Springs passed away March 13, 2011 peacefully at his home. He was born on December 30, 1936 in Flint, Michigan to Harold Muma and Helen Muma.
A caring and loving man he is preceded in death by his wife Carol Muma, both of his parents, Harold and Helen Muma, sister Yvonne and his mother-in-law Lori Bush. He is survived by two sons and three daughters, Timothy Muma of Stockton, Daniel Muma of Stockton, Jeanette Lay of Valley Springs, Lorie Muma of Sacramento and Elizabeth Dias of Fremont, CA, brothers Harold and Chuck and sister Gloria. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Clarence joined the U.S. Navy working in navigation aboard the U.S. NAVRECSTA in 1953 and was discharged in 1957 settling in Penryn, CA. He was married in 1957 to Carol Muma and spent 40 plus years with his family in Stockton, CA and then moved to Valley Springs, CA in 1993.
He retired from Acme Truck Parts & Equipment in Stockton, CA in 1999. He has also worked for Moore Tractor Division as a Parts Manager.
He was a member of the Valley Springs Lions Club, was an avid bowler for many years in Stockton and Jackson, CA.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the San Andreas Memorial Chapel in San Andreas, CA. Visitation will also be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Graveside service immediately following the funeral service. Valley Springs resident Clarence Samuel Muma died Sunday at his home. He was 75.
Born in Flint, Mich., to Harold and Helen Muma, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1953 and worked at the Naval Receiving Station in Washington, D.C. He was discharged from the service, married his wife Carol and moved to Penryn in 1957.
The couple later moved to Stockton where they lived for 40 years before moving to Valley Springs in 1993.
He retired from Acme Truck Parts and Equipment in Stockton in 1999. He also worked for Moore Tractor Division as a Parts Manager and the General Equipment Co., both in Stockton.
He was a member of the Valley Springs Lions Club and was an avid bowler in Stockton and Jackson for many years.
Mr. Muma is survived by his children, Timothy and Daniel Muma, both of Stockton, Jeanette Lay, of Valley Springs, Lorie Muma, of Sacramento, and Elizabeth Dias, of Fremont; siblings, Harold Muma, of North Carolina, and Chuck Muma and Gloria Williams, both of Michigan; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Muma; parents, Harold and Helen Muma; mother-in-law, Lori Bush; and sister, Yvonne.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the San Andreas Memorial Chapel, to be followed by a graveside service at Independence Cemetery in Rail Road Flat.
