Notes:
An affidavit was filed by Catherine Peter stating that Cyrus K Mumma was the father of her child, Henry Mumma. This document was found by the librarian of the Cocalico Valley Historical Society [CVHS] as an original document. I believe that I found the child, Henry, in the 1840 and 1850 census as shown below. I first found a Henry Mumma, age 11 living in Warwick twp. with a Samuel and Catherine Peter in the 1850 census. His age is perfect since Catherine stated that she and Cyrus were intimate in January of 1838. The child should have been born about September of 1838. So, that record suggests that he was probably living in the household of his grandparents, but his mother is not there. I then looked in the 1840 census and found Samuel and entries that fit for Henry Mumma, along with his grandparents and possibly his mother, plus 2 other children, probably his mother?s siblings.
I could not find aHenry anywhere after the 1850 census, so either Henry died or changed his name.

It appears that Henry's grandparents moved to Hamilton County, Indiana around 1858 where they remained. They migrated with their daughter and family, but Henry apparently did not migrate with them.
