"Henry Dalphos Mumma, son of David Mumma and Anna [Burrell] Mumma, was born June 19, 1859 in Adams Co., IN. He departed this life after an illness of several months at Fort Wayne, Indiana on January 16, 1939, age 78 years, 6 months and 28 days.
On June 19, 1884 he was united in marriage to Anna Eliza Wolf, to this union was born one son, Frank B. and by adoption, one daughter, Golda.
His wife passed away July 15, 1905, after which he moved to Gideon, Missouri.
On July 6, 1910 he was united in Marriage to Barsha A. Cooper, who survives him.
He was converted as a young man and joined the Pleasant Valley United Brethren Church in Adams Co., IN.
In the winter of 1886, he moved to Paulding Co., OH and was one of the founders of the present United Brethren Church at McGill, Ohio.
While a resident at Gideon, Missouri, he placed his membership in the M. E. Church and when he moved to Fort Wayne, he joined the Trinity M. E. Chruch where he retained his membership.
He leaves to morn his passing his faithful wife, a son Frank, of Columbus, Ohio, a daughter, Golda, of St. Louis, Missouri, one step-son, Frank Cooper, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, 13 grandchildren, one brother Martin V. Mumma of Gideon, Missouri and 28 nieces and nephews, a host of relatives and friends.
[Of interest, the funeral ceremony was conducted by Rev Aaron K. Mumma, his 3rd cousin.]
