Roberts Joseph Mumma
Died: January 12, 2010
Roberts Joseph Mumma, 75, of Cross Junction, Virginia died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in his home.
Mr. Mumma was born in 1934 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Cecil Joseph and Dolores Mumma. He was employed with the House of Representatives Information Systems. He was a graduate of Munich High School, Munich, Germany, Class of 1952. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. Mr. Mumma was a Reservist with the United States Air Force having thirty-nine years of service. Mr. Mumma was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Mumma was a loving father and a devoted husband who will be greatly missed by his family.
He married Iris Pratt on April 13, 1957, in Harrow Weald, England.
Surviving with his wife are his daughter, Jeanine Mikell and her husband, David, of Indianapolis, Indiana; sons, Steven Mumma and his wife, Kathy, of Gainesville, Virginia, Roberts Joseph Mumma II of Centerville, Virginia; five grandchildren; brothers, Michael Joseph Mumma and his wife, Anne, and Cecil Anthony Mumma. One brother Patrick Joseph Mumma preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be at a later date, in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
