YORKTOWN ? Doris Mallette, 96, formerly of Odon, died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday in Waters Nursing Center.
Born Jan. 27, 1911, in Decatur, she was the daughter of George and Ora (Drake) Mumma.
A homemaker, she was a member of Plainville United Methodist Church and Epsom Homemakers Club. She was also a gray lady at Daviess Community Hospital.
She is survived by three sons, Elmer Mallette of Niceville, Fla., Ray Mallette of Muncie, and Rex Mallette of Bloomington; one daughter, Betty Troup of Odon; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Lola Belle Bennfield of Valpariaso and Phillis Allegree of Greenfield; and five brothers, Lacy Mumma and Joe Mumma, both of Washington, Dean Mumma of Lyons, Robert Mumma of Arkansas and Russell Mumma of Michigan.
Her husband, Elmer Mallette, whom she married in 1929, died in 1979. A sister, Modesta Myers; two brothers, Norman Mumma and George Mumma; an infant brother, Virgil Mumma; and a granddaughter, Carol Mallette, are also deceased.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Plainville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Plainville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home, Odon.
