After the death of their father, John and Florence Mumma were placed under the guardianship of James F. Naille of Hanover, York Co., PA. James Naille lived in Hanover and was a lawyer and had married Anna Catharine Barnitz, who was the sister of their Uncle. It is thorough the cemetery records that we discover another child had been born and died.
On 13 Apr 1856, about 3 years after their father died, their mother married for a second time to Jacob Vorhis.

After the death of their father, John and Florence Mumma were placed under the guardianship of James F. Naille of Hanover, York Co., PA. on 13 Apr 1856, a year and a half after their mother married for a second time to Jacob Vorhis. James Naille lived in Hanover and was a lawyer and had married Anna Catharine Barnitz, who was the sister of their Uncle.
John's death in Jan 1880 is recorded in the U.S. Census > U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules, 1850-1880 > Ohio > Butler > Madison Twp. - cause of death - consumption (TB). He was 28 years old, married. He was born in Ohio and his parents were born in PA.
The Butler County death records list his death as 10 Mar 1880 at the age of 27 yrs, 4 mo, 15 days. However, his will was submitted to the Probate court on 4 February, 1880, so the death records must be in error. I suspect he died abt on Feb 2 or 3, 1880.
