William W. Mumaw Jr.
William W. Mumaw Jr., 64, of Rock Glen, died Thursday morning at the Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center, following a short illness. Born in West Hazleton, Sept. 6, 1936, he was the son of the late William W. and Nettie (Houseknecht) Mumaw Sr. Prior to moving to Rock Glen 26 years ago, Mr. Mumaw resided in Conyngham. Before retiring during July 1999, he was employed for more than 20 years as an assembler for All-Steel Inc., Valmont Industrial Park. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were twin sons, Scot and Kit, who died shortly after birth in 1958. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, the former Arlene Warren; a son, William W. III, Drifton; daughters, Darlene Mumaw, Rock Glen; Mrs. Walter (Katrina) Baker, Mountain Grove; a brother, John, Freeland; sisters, Jean Gaverick, Hazleton; Mrs. David (Joan) Thomas, Conyngham; four grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Mark S. Harman Funeral Home (west) Conyngham-Rock Glen Road. The Rev. Judy Wadsworth will officiate. Burial will be held at the family's convenience. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
