Hubert Gehr Mumma, 84, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at NMS Healthcare of Hagerstown.
Born Feb. 2, 1923, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Daniel Gehr and Theresa Bell Zimmerly Mumma.
He worked in construction. He served in the U.S. Army as an infantryman in World War II. He received a Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margie Mumma; two sons, Lamont B. Mumma and Daniel G. Mumma, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Walter L. Mumma of Hagerstown; three granddaughters; four grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight sisters and seven brothers.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. The Rev J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by Washington County AMVETS Post 10.
